Dutch cheese producer Old Amsterdam Cheese has released an official statement expressing support for UK dairy famers as they protest falling milk costs and the role played by supermarkets in dairy pricing.

Dairy farmers in Britain are at risk for shutting down production due to many supermarkets paying less for milk than it actually costs to produce. While many supermarkets have signed contracts with farmers that will allow them to recover the costs of milk production, several supermarkets don’t pay enough to cover the costs of production. Dairy farmers allow businesses worldwide, like cheese company Old Amsterdam, to flourish; meaning the depletion of these farms could make a big difference.
