November 4th is National Sandwich Day

Today is National Sandwich Day! The sandwich was named after John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich and is one of the most popular lunches to eat in America. Read more to learn about the history of some of our favorite sandwiches. 

The Hamburger:

America fell in love with this German import, making it the most popular sandwich in the United States, according to the National Restaurant Association. Information Week reported that 15 percent of full-time employees opt for a hamburger for lunch each day. It is featured on 75 percent of restaurant menus. While the hamburger comes in several varieties, the all-American choice includes a hamburger patty, condiments, lettuce, tomato, onions and pickles.
