An Interview with the Authors of Melt
After years of food blogging for the likes of NPR and beyond, Stephanie Stiavetti and Garrett McCord finally decided to sit down and write a cookbook. Melt: the Art of Macaroni and Cheese puts a twist on the American classic by feautring recipes with artisanal ingredients. The two authors spoke with It’s Not You, It’s Brie about the struggles of recipe writing, combining flavors, and making room in their fridge for enough pasta to feed an army.
We both love cheese, so it made sense to expand the mac & cheese idea to include a wide variety of cheeses, but as we wrote the proposal, the topic sort of focused itself to primarily involve the artisan cheese world. It was really neat to watch it evolve, as if it had a life of its own.
