Arkansas Lays Claim to Cheese Dip
The South has always been a hub of delicious and varied cuisine; a part of the country that may as well be Nirvana to many foodies. But among these celebrated food destinations, Arkansas is often forgotten in favor of barbeque or fried chicken. The state has recently proclaimed themselves the "home" of cheese dip in an effort to uphold their culinary self-worth. Though an unusual choice, Arkansas has successfully incorporated this dish into its food scene.
One of the most popular cheese dips can be found at Dizzy's Gypsy Bistro in downtown Little Rock... At first glance, their bechamel-based dip looks more like hummus than a bowl of queso. But the cheese is there, along with grilled peppers, pico de gallo, green onions, salsa and a dollop of sour cream. It's quite tasty, but far from the traditional cheese dip.
