Last day for Birth of a Cheese entries

Tomorrow, May 1st, is your last day to apply for the 2012 Birth of a Cheese event, and we're throwing open the doors to all comers.

To apply to become a taster for Jasper Hill's latest locally-sourced, sustainable Alpine cheese, just go to our application and tell us in 200 words or less why you're the one we want.

Jasper Hill wants this project to help build a sustainable local food economy for Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, and we're proud to involve everyone in our community by opening the application process to everyone. So don't wait, apply now!

Well, today is the last day

Well, today is the last day to enter. I hope that there will be a lot of entries. It would be awesome to be able to read some of them. I would assume some would be serious and others might have a comical slant to it.

 

Running a contest to pick a responsibile "cheese taster" should be a pretty fun thing to do and I hope that the winner enjoys the opportunity they will have.

Well, I wouldn't want to share confidential information, but the entries ranged from straight ahead listings of credentials (some very impressive indeed!) to displays of wit and snippets of poetry.

The final tally was 162 entries from nearly every state in the US. For some reason, lots of lawyers applied this year.

It's very hard to winnow the list down to the final 20 or so....
