Cheese themed hurricane

After a long two weeks of Restaurant Week in Boston, I was poorly prepared for the impending hurricane on Saturday night. My feet were tired, my clothes and person were dirty, and there wasn't a flashlight to be found in my apartment. My roommate and I looked over our supplies, wondering how long we'd be able to survive if the power went out.

Our plan was to eat everything in the fridge first, so as not to let the perishables go bad. Sadly the fridge was a barren wasteland.

Or was it? The cheese drawer was actually chock full! I had Vermont Butter and Cheese chevre, Barinaga Ranch Baserri, Bleu Mont Dairy cheddar, Alemar Bent River, Hidden Springs Bohemian Blue, Arthur Schuman parmesan, Shatto milk Company sheep's milk gouda, and McCadam Cheese monterrey jack all shoved in this little drawer. I wasn't sure how old any of it was...but it still looked pretty good. It seemed we'd be eating cheese for days...with wheat thins and tomato soup. DONE!

The next concern was libations, and for this we actually went out to buy some of the only decent thing available in our immediate area - Magic Hat #9.

We settled in to weather the storm, which turned out to be not much of anything in our neighborhood, but on Sunday afternoon I cracked open a Magic Hat to find that the bottle cap message knew me uncannily well. "Seize the cheese" it said.

Did anyone else survive on cheese and clairvoyant beer?

I weathered the storm quite

I weathered the storm quite handily out here in sunny California, but I miss Magic Hat #9. It was my go-to Boston beer!
