10 Best: Grilled Cheese Trucks
It's no surprise that grilled cheese trucks have become de rigueur these days. They're fast, portable, and loved by (almost) everyone. As if crispy bread and gooey cheese weren't enough, grilled cheese trucks across the country are raising the stakes with ingredients like caramelized onions and short ribs. Yum.
1. The Grilled Cheese Truck, Los Angeles, CA
By far the most liked and followed on Facebook and Twitter, The Grilled Cheese Truck is best known for their Cheesy Mac and Rib, a godly combination of mac and cheese, barbecued pulled pork, and caramelized onions.
2. Roxy's Grilled Cheese, Boston, MA
Roxy's gained notoriety when they competed (and almost won) in Food Network's "The Great Food Truck Race." Despite the loss, fans still flock for their indulgent creations like the Green Muenster, made with guacamole and bacon.
3. The Grilled Cheeserie, Nashville, TN
If you've got a Le Cordon Bleu trained Chef, chances our your food truck is going to be a success. So is the case with The Grilled Cheeserie, whose "Melt of the Moment" includes brie, fontina, and smoked prosciutto.
4. Gorilla Cheese, Toronto, CN
Hailed as Canada's first grilled cheese truck, Gorilla Cheese, which shares the same name as an NYC grilled cheese truck, nods to its Canadian roots with the Lumberjack, topped with bacon, apples, and maple syrup.
5. Morris Grilled Cheese, New York, NY
Despite an underwhelming name, Morris rakes in customers with their chef-y creations. For the beer and cheese lovers, there's the Beer & Brats--Bratwurst, ale cheddar, and hops aioli.
6. GourMelt, Reno, NV
The expansive menu is like one you would find at a diner--except the focus is on grilled cheese. Featuring both sweet and savory melts, one to try would be the Cherry bomb, made with chevre, cherries, and candied pecans.
7. C'est Cheese, Cincinnati, Ohio
More a food bus than a truck, C'est Cheese has a grilled cheese for any taste, gourmet or just plain fun. Check out the Oscar Mayer Robertson, a sandwich so wrong it's right: fried bologna and american cheese.
8. The Grilled Cheese Grill, Portland, OR
With the motto of "Come by for a taste of your childhood *Unless your childhood sucked, and then we'll let ya have a taste of ours," does it really matter if the grilled cheese is any good? *It is.
9. Toasty Cheese, Chicago, IL
Are you a Mighty Max or a Jazzy Jeff? At Toasty Cheese, all sandwiches come with a moniker. I'll stick to the Chef's Choice: duck bacon, provolone, greens, and aioli.
10. Ms. Cheezious, Miami, FL
Livin' it up in Miami, Ms. Cheezious makes it clear that this is not your mama's grilled cheese. For a taste of the sea, go for the Crabby Cheese Melt, made with a decadent crab salad and sharp cheddar.
